چکیده

The problem of evaluating a military or GPS/GSM system’s precision quality is considered in this article, where one sequentially observes bivariate normal data (Xi, Yi)’s andwants to test hypotheses on the circular error probability (CEP) or the probability of nonconforming, i.e., the probabilities of the system hitting or missing a pre-specified disk target. In such a problem, we first consider a sequential probability ratio test (SPRT) developed under the erroneous assumption of the correlation coefficient ρ = 0, and investigate its properties when the true ρ ≠ 0. It was shown that at least one of the Type I and Type II error probabilities would be larger than the required ones if the true ρ ≠ 0, and for the detailed effects, exp{−2} ≈ 0.1353 turns out to be a critical value for the hypothesized probability of nonconforming. Moreover, we propose several sequential tests when the correlation coefficient ρ is unknown, and among these tests, the method of generalized sequential likelihood ratio test (GSLRT) in Bangdiwala (1982) seems to work well. © 2015 Elsevier B.V. Efficient Robust Sequential Tests of Circular Error Probability via D-ary Quantization

In the context of evaluating a system’s precision quality, one wants to utilize observed two-dimensional data to quickly test the hypotheses on the circular error probability (CEP) or the probability of nonconforming, which refer to the chance of the system hitting or missing a pre-specified disk target, respectively. The objective is to develop efficient robust sequential tests in the presence...

Test of the Correlation Coefficient in Bivariate Normal Populations Using Ranked Set Sampling

Ranked Set Sampling (RSS) is a statistical method for data collection that leads to more efficient estimators than competitors based on Simple Random Sampling (SRS). We consider testing the correlation coefficient of bivariate normal distribution based on Bivariate RSS (BVRSS). Under one-sided and two-sided alternatives, we show that the new tests based on BVRSS are more powerful than the usua...

the effect of sleep quality on the probability of human error of staff of railway traffic control rooms

Introduction: Human errors cause major accidents in many industries, including railway industries. Several factors also play a role in the occurrence of such errors. The quality of people's sleep may affect their probability of human error. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of sleep quality on the probability of human error in employees of railway traffic control rooms. Methods...

Comparison of numerical algorithms for bivariate sequential tests based on marginal criteria

Group sequential tests are widely used for interim analyses in randomized clinical trials. These tests have been extended to bivariate outcomes, but calculation of boundary values is computationally intensive. In this paper, we compare 3 algorithms: (1) quasi-Monte Carlo; (2) Schervish’s MULNOR; and (3) a bivariate version of Armitage’s recursive formula proposed by Jennison and Turnbull, for c...
